Miyat, sometimes called The First, is the Ocean-and-Sky Goddess and mother of the Gods. According to legend, the world was created by Asham from her defeated body, and she commands the Sky Serpents that are believed to encircle the Gray Sea.

Miyat existed before anything else, in the form of a chaotic, roiling sea. Yanu was born from her foam. She became pregnant with Yanu’s seed and gave birth to the second generation of Gods—Anlil, Eyenki, and Ishtanyu. When her waters threatened to devour the earth and the other Gods’ children, the third generation of Gods, led by Asham, made war against her. With the help of Eyenki, Asham defeated Miyat and forged her prone body into the raqiya and the other boundaries of the world.
